‘Jane The Virgin’ Star Gina Rodriguez Raves About Co-Star Jenna Ortega: ‘She Is The Future’
“Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez has made it a point to promote the talents of Latinos and Latinas in the entertainment industry. Recently, she lauded her young co-star, Jenna Ortega.
Ortega plays the younger Jane Gloriana Villanueva in the show, while Rodriguez plays her grown-up version.
On her Instagram account (@hereisgina), Rodriguez posted a photo of Ortega and wrote that the young actress is a Mexican, Puerto Rican and American actress who is known for her role as Harley Diaz in “Stuck in the Middle.” She also voiced Princess Isabel in the animated series “Elena of Avalor.”
“This young, bright, talented, kind and generous soul has only begun her impeccable journey in the world of arts but has already made such a profound impact with her wisdom and desire to spread good in this world,” wrote Rodriguez. “Her talents have amazed me since the moment she stepped foot on set back in April of 2014.”
Rodriguez gushed that Ortega inspires her and makes her heart “absolutely melt and burst into confetti.” But more importantly, Ortega pushes Rodriguez to “grow as a human being.”
“She is the future and she is aware of the good she desires to do with the power God has blessed her with,” she continued. “Jenna, today and everyday I celebrate you. You represent the future for Latino actors and boy are we lucky to have such a revolutionary and strong heart fighting for us.”
Ortega actually feels the same way about Rodriguez because she earlier told Bustle that she has learned so many things from her co-star. “She is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet and I think she’s a great role model for young Latinas like me,” said Ortega.
Another person the young actress looks up to is her co-star Justin Baldoni, who plays hotelier Rafael Solano in The CW series. She earlier described him as “a good man and a positive role model.”
“Jane the Virgin” airs every Monday at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
