Meghan Markle Criticized ‘For Not Doing Enough’ To Support British Designers
Meghan Markle is not showing enough support to British designers.
The Duchess of Sussex is popular for her fashion. In fact, she made it into Lyst’s most powerful fashion influencer of 2018. She tops third following Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. However, Markle is reportedly not keeping enough British designers in her wardrobe.
On the “Royally Obsessed” podcast, monarchy experts Kaitlin Menza and Lisa Ryan addressed the issue of Markle shunning British designers. Special guest Elizabeth Holmes joined the two and noted Marke’s effort to wear outfits influenced by each country’s national colors during her first royal tour this year. This includes the duchess’ black dress in New Zealand, red wardrobe in Tonga and the blue gown in Fiji.
Holmes also noted that Markle often wears American and Canadian clothing when she’s already in London. Prince Harry’s wife should have opted for the fashion counterparts closer to her new home.
“At least in the British fashion scene from what I’ve heard there are some grumblings that she isn’t doing enough,” Holmes said.
Holmes encouraged Markle to put on more British designers. Doing so is “very strategic moment for her to step out and be a member of that community.”
Meanwhile, Markle is rumored to be having a rift with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton. The duchesses’ ghastly row reportedly began last Christmas when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited the Duke and Duchesses of Sussex to their home.
Markle was reportedly judged as “downright rude.” Middleton spoke with her, but the pregnant royal didn’t take it well.
Markle complained to Prince Harry that she had been “told off.” Prince Harry took his wife’s side. On the other hand, Prince William defended Middleton who was still pregnant with Prince Louis at the time.
Markle and Middleton’s rift was visible in their first royal engagement together, according to body language expert Judi James. Even if the two women were photographed smiling, the shots were misleading.
Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle are expected to spend Christmas together with the Queen and the rest of the royal family members. There are rumors suggesting that Markle will take it as an opportunity to reconcile with Middleton.
