Prince Harry is reportedly not worried about money after he and Meghan Markle left the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a few weeks back that they would be stepping back as senior members of the royal family. The couple, who has been criticized for their luxurious lifestyle, also said that they will be working to be financially independent.
A source told InTouch Weekly that Prince William’s brother is not worried about their finances. They already planned everything out and Prince Harry is not materialistic.
“Harry isn’t worried about money,” the source said. “He’s confident he won’t be strapped for cash, and to be honest, he’s never been a materialistic kind of guy anyway — he likes the outdoors and basic things in life.”
Many are positive that Prince Harry and Markle will make more money now that they are not working royals. Considering their star quality, they could be the next global phenomenon.
According to Express, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could earn as much as $500 million annually after leaving the royal family with their Sussex Royal brand, which they could use for commercial deals and endorsements. The Sussexes have already used the trademark to over 100 items including pencils, socks and bookmarks. They are also reportedly planning to stamp their name on dozens of products including hoodies, T-shirts, gloves and more.
However, even if Prince Harry and Markle’s brand is a hit, Jeetendr Sehdev, Esquire’s Influencer of the Year, doesn’t think that they will compare to the Kardashians’ success. For him, the Sussexes are just like the Obamas.
“I think Sussex Royal is more like the multi-million dollar Obamas, not the billion-dollar Kardashians,” he wrote.
Among the reasons Sehdev provided is the age of the royal fans. Prince Harry and Markle’s brand has some qualities that appeal to the younger core consumers but most of the royal fans are already over 65 years old. Also, Prince Harry had made some racist remarks in the past that turned off potential fans.
“I have no doubt, Harry's racist behavior will haunt him with today's younger generation. Let’s not forget that nearly half of Generation-Z are minorities,” Sehdev added.
