Rapper 2 Chainz Denies Robbery While Police Confirm Attack
Rapper 2 Chainz is denying reports that he was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight on Sunday in San Francisco, Calif. Hours after he claimed he had his wallet stolen while he was with an entourage of about 14 people, the 35-year-old tweeted, “Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch, money etc.” He also said, “Rule #2 if a rapper gets shot he usually go to hospital or dies.”
Police told TMZ on Sunday that cops were called to the scene after gunshots were heard in the afternoon, and, when they arrived, the “Like Me” rapper was not cooperating.
Instead, he said he wanted to handle the situation on his own. The Atlanta rapper, who’s real name is Tauheed Epps, later told cops that only his wallet was stolen.
Though it is unclear who the assailant is, police stated after reviewing a surveillance tape that 2 Chainz was the intended target.
While 2 Chainz continues to deny he was robbed, police confirmed to HollywoodLife that they did in fact respond to a call regarding gunshots, and when they went to the scene, 2 Chainz was there, without his entourage.
“He and his crew were walking ... They were approached by two Hispanic males; one produced a handgun and a shot was fired. Mr. Epps is saying he was robbed of a wallet, credit cards, US Currency and a cell phone,” an officer told the site.
“The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect is 20 to 30 years old, 5 foot 6 inches and about 130 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.”
2 Chainz has not since commented on the alleged attack.
