Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2015: 6 Things We Learned Backstage At Runway Show [PHOTOS]

Dozens of supermodels descended upon New York Tuesday to film the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. International Business Times had a chance to chat with a few of the Angels backstage as they got pampered for the big runway show.

Before newcomers like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid and veteran Angels like Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge walked the runway for what’s known as the sexiest show of the year, the models dished about beauty secrets and how they got in shape for the big day.

1. It takes hours to get runway ready.

It’s clear Victoria’s Secret picks some of the most stunning models to walk the runway, but it still takes hours for them to get runway ready. Model Barbara Fialho, who has walked in four Victoria's Secret runway shows, told IBT she was in and out of hair and makeup for five hours. Besides making sure their tresses are perfectly in place and their makeup is flawless, each model gets a manicure and pedicure.

“It takes much longer than most people think,” Fialho teased.

2. And it takes an army to get all those models ready.

Victoria’s Secret hired 32 hairstylists, 32 makeup artists and six manicurists to tend to the models all day long. They also go through 40 bottles of Victoria’s Secret hairspray, 100 bottles of the brand’s body lotion and use 60 beachwaver hair tools in one day.

3. Supermodels like to eat before strutting on the runway.

Most people wouldn't dare to pick up a sandwich before modeling barely-there lingerie, but off to the side at the hair and makeup lounge was a small area for models to enjoy a quick meal. The buffet table was lined with an assortment of snacks like fruits, veggies and tiny sandwiches.

4. Happiness is the key to looking like a supermodel.

When IBT asked what beauty tips Fialho uses in preparing for the Victoria’s Secret Runway Show, she said there isn’t a quick fix to looking runway ready but you do have to take time out to pamper yourself. She also said being happy and in a positive state of mind helps because it “transcends.”

Model Taylor Hill, who was walking in the runway show for the second time, mimicked Fialho’s sentiments, telling IBT she tries to stay “healthy, happy and fit” leading up to the big show.

5. Models spend months preparing for the show.

The runway show only lasts approximately an hour, but models work really hard getting in shape for the event. Hill told IBT she works out every day and tries to eat clean, while Fialho said she stays in shape by dancing, swimming, boxing and running.

“It’s a part of my job, to work out,” Fialho explained.

6. Backstage is completely insane.

Getting 26 models ready for a runway show isn’t an easy task, and backstage at the runway show was complete chaos (but in a good way). From Behati Prinsloo jumping on a table to disrobe and playfully pose for photographers to models blowing kisses at the cameras, the hair and makeup lounge was nonstop fun.
