Cameron Diaz shared how she met her husband, Benji Madden, in her latest interview.
The "Charlie's Angels" star appeared in the recent episode of the "Anna Faris Is Unqualified" podcast. During her appearance, the 49-year-old actress shared that she met her husband through his twin brother Joel Madden and the latter's wife, Nicole Richie.
"I met mine through my now sister-in-law and brother-in-law, I met them first and then they didn't set us up but we were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other," Diaz was quoted by People as saying.
"I was like, 'How come I didn't see him before?'"
Diaz's business partner and fellow guest Katherine Power commented that it was funny because she already saw Benji's twin, Joel. However, the "Bad Teacher" star noted that they were very different and she wasn't attracted to her brother-in-law.
"They're not the same, they're so different," Diaz explained. "Even though they're twins, they're very, very different obviously."
Diaz recalled her first encounter with Benji and shared how she instantly knew that he was the missing piece in her life.
"I saw him walking towards me and I was like, 'Huh, he's hot, I haven't seen him before,'" Diaz recounted. "But then when I saw him, like who he was, that's what made me really be like, 'Oh you, you're special, you're the guy, you're the hidden gem in my life.'"
Diaz and Benji welcomed their daughter Raddix Madden in January 2020. She credited her pal Gwyneth Paltrow for encouraging her to have a child.
"I don't think I could have been this parent at 25. I would not have become a mother if it wasn't for you," Diaz told Paltrow. "I credit you so much with the fact that you never let up on me. I would say, encouraging."
The couple has never publicly revealed if they used a surrogate or adoption to become parents. However, the experience of becoming a mom has become the "best part" of Diaz's life, according to her.
"I'm so grateful and so happy and it's the best thing ever. I'm so lucky to do it with Benji and we're having the best time," Diaz said.
