“The Mindy Project” lead star Mindy Kaling is expecting a baby girl! And since she will be returning to the Hulu series on Sept. 12, fans couldn’t help but wonder how she hides her baby bump in the upcoming season since her character will not be pregnant.

While speaking at the PaleyFest (via People), Kaling’s co-star, Ike Barinholtz, admitted that they got really creative with regards to hiding the actress’ growing baby bump. “The first seven weeks, you really couldn’t tell. I was directing an episode and there was a slight pop in the middle of the week so there was a little bit of ‘why don’t you hold your purse in this scene?’ There was a little bit of that,” he said.

But Barinholtz said that their creative ways of keeping the actress’ pregnancy out of the series wasn’t similar to what Debra Messing had to do in “Will & Grace.” “Sal Perez – who is an amazing designer – kind of kept in mind that it’s off story for her to be really pregnant, so we haven’t had to obscure too much but we’ve gotten creative a few times. It’s not like ‘Will & Grace’ where Debra Messing had a pillow like always the whole season. There is a little bit of kitchen island stuff going on,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Barinholtz enjoyed his co-star’s pregnancy since he, Kaling, the other cast and crew get to enjoy all kinds of food. “It’s fun for me because I like to eat and she’s in a great mood for that right now. Oh God, me and her and David Stassen just ate a bag of Tapatio Doritos last week. Whatever she wants to eat we’re going to jump on,” he said.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Kaling is expecting a baby girl, though the actress herself hasn’t confirmed the reports. The actress also has not revealed the identity of her baby’s father. But while speaking with Sunday Today, the actress admitted that she’s looking forward to the arrival of her first child.

“It’s so unknown to me. I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s out of my hands,’” she said.
